Festival Maths en Ville (Maths in the City)
The “Maths en Ville” festival, organised by the TerraquĆ©e association, is a free, annual, public event that transforms public spaces into a “temporary mathematics laboratory.”
Created in 2017, it aims to demystify mathematics and make it accessible and engaging for everyone, particularly families and children, but also adults of all backgrounds.
The festival features a diverse range of interactive activities, including hands-on workshops, games, puzzles, exhibitions, and performances, often centred around a specific theme. These activities are designed to showcase the fun, creative, and practical applications of mathematics in our daily-life, moving away from traditional, abstract teaching methods.
The event fosters curiosity, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills in a relaxed and festive atmosphere, while combating math anxiety and promoting mathematical literacy.
It is supported by a network of partners and a scientific committee and represents a key component of TerraquĆ©e’s broader mission to promote mathematical engagement through various outreach initiatives.
